Udaipur
Udaipur is among the most romantic and peaceful cities in India. In recent year Udaipur has received its fair share of the benefits of commercial tourism and has been molded by it. Maharaja Udai Singh II was responsible for setting up this city in the middle phase of the 16th century. He built a number of grand temples and magnificent palaces and gave Udaipur its present day appearance. The City Palace is a lakeside hotel and is among the largest hotel in Rajasthan. The Jagdish Temple is next to the City Palace. Its stone carvings are exceptional. You could also visit the Neemach Mata temple and the Sajjangarh fort.
There are a number of high quality museums at Udaipur. These museums provide you with information on almost every aspect of Rajasthan including its archeology, folk art forms and tribal life. You could visit the Ahar Archaeological Museum, which is there on the fringes of Udaipur. The Government Museum is one of the many museums within the City Palace hotel. This museum houses portraits of some of the major monarchs of Rajasthan who were known for their extravagant lifestyles. There are some eye catching mosaic peacocks at the City of Palace Museum.
Jaipur is the major fruit of the basket known as Rajasthan. At Udaipur you can visit the Jaisamand Lake. It is a man made lake and is located beside the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary. You could also visit the Kumbhalgarh Fort, which is close to Udaipur. It is a huge fort. You could also visit Ranakpur, which has a big temple complex and Mount Abu. You might as well visit Jaisalmer from Udaipur.
