Samode
Samode is 42 kilometers away from Jaipur. It takes only an hour in car to get to Samode from Jaipur. There are two ways of going to Samode - there is a caravan route and a short route through the Shekhavati area. The artisans of this tiny village are well known for their glass bangles and printed clothing item. It is the northern Aravalli region. There are a number of ancient residences known as havelis. These havelis still have some very good old portraits. The Samode Palace now works as a hotel. This hotel has traditional Shekhavati paintings that date back to 300 years. The Durbar Hall of the Samode Palace is decorate just like the Shish Mahal.
The Samode Fort is right on a hill, which is close to the Samode Palace. It used to be the abode of the monarchs of Samode. Nowadays the old criss cross path has been substituted by 300 steps. Here you would also find the Samode Bagh, which is being refurbished. The Aravalli mountain range is only three kilometers away from Samode.
