About Highlights of Ladakh:
A major highlight of the tour is a visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar where we may see the early evening Granth Sahib ceremony. There is time to explore the hill stations of both Dharamshala, homes to the exiled Dalai Lama and Manali, famous for its ancient wooden temples. Manali to Leh highway across the Great Himalayan Range, the world's second highest road is rugged and only tackled by adventurous travelers. The high mountain passes are incredibly beautiful, though also steep and daunting.
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
Arrive in Delhi and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is free to relax and recover from flight or individual exploration. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Delhi - Amritsar (By Train)
Early morning transfer to New Delhi railway Station to board train for Amritsar. Afternoon we visit the famous Golden temple and Jallian Walla Bagh. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Amritsar - Dharamshala
Early morning we re-visit Golden Temple. We depart for Dharamshala, His Holiness Dalai Lama settled here after fleeing from Tibet at the time of the Chinese invasion. McLeord Ganj is the area with the greatest Tibetan influence. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4: In Dharamshala
Visit the Dalai Lama's Monastery, Tibetan children village and handicraft center, Bhagsunag temple, waterfall and the war memorial. Evening free to relax. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Dharamshala - Kullu - Manali
We depart for our new and exciting destination Kullu and Manali. Manali is synonymous with streams and birdsongs, forest, orchards and grandeur of the snowcapped Himalaya. On arrival at Manali, check-in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6: In Manali
Visiting the Hadimba Devi temple set within dense Pine forest and Naggar Castle to have the stunning view of the valley. Afternoon is spent walking around the Beas River and the local market. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7: Manali - Keylong - Jispa
Today we drive to Jispa crossing our first pass, Rothang La (3,985 m). We can visit the 900 year-old Kardung monastery above Keylong before we continue our drive to Jispa. On arrival at Jispa, check-in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Jispa - Tsokar Lake
A long drive today, we climb through a stunning wind eroded landscape of earth and rocks to Baralacha Pass (4,845m). Descend down to Pang and continue south across the Morri plains to Tsokar. Overnight at Camp.
Day 9: Tsokar - Leh
We ascend to the Tanglang La (5,328 m)., descending from the pass we follow the Gaya River then take a left turn at Karu to Hemis Monastery. Later we follow Indus River till we reach Leh. On arrival at Leh, check-in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10: In Leh
Visit the major monasteries; we first drive to Shey, a former Royal summer Palace of the Ladakh kings. From Shey we drive to Thiksey monastery - perched on top of a hill. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11: Leh - Likir - Ridzong - Alchi
We follow the Indus River, pass Basgo turn off the main road to visit Likir monastery, reminiscent of the Potala Palace in Lhasa. From here we drive to Ridzong monastery and drive to Alchi. Overnight at hotel in Alchi.
Day 12: Alchi - Lamayuru - Alchi
Main attraction in Alchi is the monastery. After breakfast we make an excursion to Lamayuru. Overnight at hotel in Alchi.
Day 13: Alchi - Leh
After breakfast we drive back to Leh visiting Basgo Fort en route. The rest of the afternoon is free. There are options to visit some of the monasteries in the Leh Valley. Overnight at hotel in Leh.
Day 14: Leh -Delhi (By Flight 9W 2246 Dep: 0735 Hrs/Arr: 0850 Hrs)
Early morning transfer to airport to board your flight for Delhi. Meet at airport and transfer to hotel. Later proceed for combined city tour of Old & New Delhi. Overnight at hotel
Day 15: Delhi-Departure
Today after breakfast, check-out from hotel at 1200 noon and in time transfer to airport to board flight back to home.
