Alappuzha Beach

Nature reigns supreme in the Allappuzha district. With its exhaustive network of lakes, backwater lagoons and fresh water rivers, Allappuzha is rightly called the 'Venice of the East.' Specially during the Onam season, a visit to Allappuzha is a must as the entire district is taken in by the exuberant frenzy of boat racing. On the west of the district is the Arabian Sea. Languid backwater cruises and lolling on its Alleppey beach are two of Allappuzha's most preferred tourist options. Yes Allappuzha beach is also called Alleppey beach. Alappuzha's beach, with its stretches of golden sand and palm trees, provides splendid atmosphere for your vacations. Most of the tourists coming to Allappuzha beach also like to visit the old lighthouse located in the vicinity of the beach. Kappil Beach

For those looking for serenity and peace of mind can heed towards Kappil beach. The sun drenched beach can provide the perfect place to unwind, after a trip to the nearby Bekal Fort. The place is situated in the remote areas of Kerela and is very neat and clean. If you are adventurous enough, you can climb the Kodi Cliff, from where one can get a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea.

Bekal Fort Beach

Developed and maintained by the Bekal Resorts Development Corporation, the place is known for its magnificent hills, rivers, religious monuments, forts, etc. The place and its assets have been well preserved by the government. The beach area is full of greenery and the rock garden has added to its pristine charm. After sun set, the beach is illuminated with a number of lights, thereby making the aura all the more romantic.

Kovalam Beach

The beach touches two other beaches on the other side of the Indian territory. The beach area offers a perfect setting to enjoy sun bathing, enjoying message therapy in beach cafe and other activities. Actually, the sea water on this side is calmer. Many tourists visit the place specially for health purposes. There are many Ayurvedic centers that provide natural remedies for some major health problems. Kappad Beach

A gateway to the Malabar beaches, Kappad beach, located 16 km from the Kozikhode town, provide an exquisite view of the Arabian Sea. Vasco de Gama made his historic landing here, in 1498 AD, which heralded the advent of Portuguese rule in India, and opened up the sea route for trade between Europe and India. The rocky beach is clean and not at all crowded. Only some country fishing boats are strewn here and there. An 800 year-old-temple is rested on a huge rock that protrudes into the sea. It is a place which tourists would love to visit. With the shallow waters in the beach, you can get down into the water and have a splash. The Kappad beach is a perfect blend of ancient heritage and nature's beauty, and is unaffectedly simple. Its simplicity adds to its charm.

Varkala Beach

Just 54 km north of the hustle bustle of Kerala's capital, Thiruvananthapuram, lies the quiet and uncrowded Varkala beach, secluded behind a rocky cliff, and secluded from the tensions of our 'civilization.' Besides enjoying some precious moments with yourself or your dear ones in the laid back ambiance of Varkala beach, you can also scout for nearby sights and sounds. Yes the beach has a number of tourist attractions in the vicinity. One can visit the 2000-year-old Sree Janardhana Swamy Temple; dedicated to the God Ayyappa, or bathe in the nearby mineral springs. The temple is thronged by thousands of devotees year round, and you can be one of them. If you are a health enthusiast, you would be interested to know that the mineral springs near the Varkala beach are believed to have medicinal properties. Also visit a nature cure center near the beach. But even if you miss all these, do not miss a sunset on the Varkala beach. It is so beautiful, it may take your breath away.
