Peru is located in the central and western part of South America. According to its location to the equatorial line, Peru is part of the south hemisphere. With an area of 1,285,215 km2, Peru is the third largest country in South America after Brazil and Argentina. Peru also holds 200 miles of Peruvian coast and has territorial rights of an area of 60 million hectares in the Antarctic. Peru is divided into 24 departments. Lima is the capital of Peru.

Peru Weather
Peru’s seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. Summer in Peru is from December to February and winter from July to September. There’s not a bad time to visit Peru, however as a very general recommendation the best time to visit the coast is during the summer (Dec-Feb) and the best time to visit the mountains is in the winter (Jul-Sept). The jungle is hot and steamy all year round with heavy rains in December and January.

Language –
The official language of Peru is Spanish, but it is a multilingual nation. Peru is home to a multitude of indigenous tongues. The Political Constitution of Peru makes allowances for the nation’s various languages, stating that Quechua, Aymara and other native languages are languages of the state ‘wherever they are prominent’.

Currency –
The Peruvian Sol is the currency of Peru. Our currency rankings show that the most popular Peru Sol exchange rate is the USD to PEN rate.
Touristic Attractions-
The city of Cuzco, Machu picchu, The Huascaran National Park:, The Manu National Park:, Lima’s Historical Centre, The Nazca Lines and the Pampas de Juma

Peru

Peru is the third largest country in South America after Brazil and Argentina, and ranks among the 20 largest countries in the world. The country’s location facilitates the access to markets in Asia and the United States of America, which enables its projection as a linking bridge between markets in South America and Southeast Asia.

LIMA –
Few foreign visitor falls in love with the Peruvian capital, but nearly all of them pass through it — a whopping 90 percent, in fact. According to the Mastercard 2014 Golbal destination cities index, Lima was the most visited city in Latin America by foreign arrivals in 2014, and the twentieth most visited city in the world.

CUSCO –
Cusco is Peru’s prime tourist destination, with at least 80 percent of all foreign tourists heading there during their stay. Cusco itself has plenty to offer, bursting as it is with history and tradition. Two words, however, explain the almost hypnotic attraction that the former Inca capital has over foreign visitors: Machu Picchu. The Inca citadel received 1.17 million visitors in 2013, of which 804,000 were foreigners (Peru itself received 3.16 million foreign tourists in 2013).

PUNO –
In terms of population, Puno only just sneaks onto the list of Peru’s 20 biggest cities. But Puno has two attributes that keep the tourists coming. The city is known as the “Folkloric Capital of Peru” thanks to its rich traditions and frequent festivals, with annual festivities drawing big crowds from across Peru and beyond.

ICA –
Ica is a nice enough place, but the city isn’t typically the main reason for staying in this part of Southern Peru. Ica serves as a base for trips to the surrounding dunes for buggy rides and sandboarding, most famously at the Huacachina oasis. The surrounding area is also part of the pisco route, with some of Peru’s finest pisco distilleries nestled in the region’s river valleys.

Day 1: Arrive Lima

1Depart North America today and arrive in Lima, Peru. You are welcomed and transferred to the hotel.

Day 2: Lima – City Tour & Larco Herrera Museum

2After a leisurely morning, embark on your tour of Lima. Your local expert focuses on the city’s colonial heritage during a walking tour. Start at the Plaza de Armas to see the Government Palace and visit the Cathedral, where the skeleton of Francisco Pizarro is sealed in a wooden coffin. From there, stroll to the venerable San Francisco Monastery, with its splendid 17th-century cloister murals. Next, stop at Lima’s famous Herrera Museum. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at a La Rosa Nautica Restaurant.

Day 3: – Lima / Cuzco / Sacred Valley

3Fly to the oldest inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere: Cuzco. Travel to Pisac to see the ruins of an ancient citadel that once controlled a route that connected the Inca Empire with the Paucartambo River. The panoramas from Pisac are magnificent, offering views of the impressive patchwork effect in the countryside below, which was accomplished by patterned fields and rimmed by vast terracing cut out of solid rock. In the
upper section lies the main Sun Temple and above the temple are still more unexcavated ruins and hidden burial sites. Later, visit the market for a taste of colorful local life.

Day 4: Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu

4Travel aboard the Vistadome train from Ollantaytambo to the archeological wonder of Machu Picchu, built in the late 14th century. Machu Picchu was obviously a well planned and carefully built city, made up of two clearly different sectors, one agricultural and the other urban. With mountains to one side and a river roaring far below, this solemn fortress is a fascinating remnant of a once-bustling city that was mysteriously abandoned after the middle of the 16th century. Secreted amidst dense jungle vegetation and steep hills, Machu Picchu remained undiscovered by the modern world until 1911. Learn about the many legends and strange truths of these ancient ruins from your local guide.

Day 5: Machu Picchu / Cuzco

4Today enjoy the tranquility of the morning. This morning you will have some free time to wander the charming village of Aguas Calientes or pay locally to take the coach up to the Citadel and wander the ruins at your own pace inhaling the magic that is Machu Picchu. After lunch at the hotel, return to Cuzco aboard the “Inca Train.” Sip a cup of tea and enjoy panoramic views as the beautiful greenery of the Urubamba Valley rolls by.

Day 6:Cuzco

4Today, visit several ruins, including Kenko and Tambomachay. Journey to the “Valley of the Incas” to the Sacsayhuaman Fortress. Later, see the hillside fort and Puca Pucara, which most likely served as a lookout post and stopping point between Cuzco and the Sacred Valley.

Day 7: Cuzco / Lima

4Fly back to Lima this morning. You have free time before driving to an excellent restaurant for a farewell lunch. The remainder of your afternoon and evening is free before you pack for your late-night departure.
