Day 01 – Masai Mara

1Met on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport and after a short brief drive to The Masai Mara National Reserve renowned for offering wonderful scenery and plenty of wild game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago. On arrival drive straight to the camp for hot sumptuous lunch. Later in the afternoon proceed on a game drive that will take approx one & half hours to two hours. The game spotting safari in the reserve will give you an opportunity to spot Africa’s ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. All Meals and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp.

Day 02 – Masai Mara

2Today you also have an opportunity to go on a spectacular Optional balloon ride across the Maasai Mara. The BALLOON SAFARI ADVENTURE begins in the pre-dawn hours and the magnificent view over the park is thrilling. Towards the end of the flight, you rise to a height of 1500 feet for a panoramic view of the twisting Mara River and the savannah below. After an hour or so in the air, your safari finishes with a flourish: a champagne breakfast in the bush, cooked on the balloon’s burners! Please note that this is an optional extra cost not included in the main tour package. Enjoy this day in the Masai Mara with early morning game drives and afternoon game drives. All meals at the camp. The Mara is also noted for its abundance of lions – particularly the superb black manned males. You’ll see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as – if you’re lucky – leopard, cheetah and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents. You’re sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready, stock up on film and enjoy yourselves! All Meals and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp.

Day 03 – Lake Naivasha

3After breakfast drive to Lake Naivasha which is a freshwater Lake. Lake Naivasha is on the floor of the East African Rift Valley. Birdlife is particularly abundant (over 460 species). It is a breeding ground for cormorants all year round. You might see pelicans and spoonbills perched on the dead trees and almost certainly the fish eagle. There are two species of fish breeding in this fresh water lake, black bass and tilapia. The tilapias are ‘mouth breeders’, the various species of fresh water mouth breeders are known as “tilapia”. Large and small frogs are abundant, from the bull frog to the tiny tree toad. Crescent Island in Lake Naivasha is part of the rim of submerged volcano whose crater forms the deepest part of the Lake (can be booked and paid locally at an extra cost). Lunch is at the resort. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Naviasha country club.

Day 04 – Aberdare

4After breakfast drive to Aberdare Country Club. The club is nestled on a slope of Mweiga Hill in the Aberdare Highlands, part of the Great Rift Valley. This captivating site was the homestead of an English couple that decided to settle in Kenya. Almost a half century later, their home, “The Steep”, was renamed the Aberdare Country Club and opened for guests. Considered a heritage property in Kenya, The Aberdare Country Club has retained the charm of a private home with the simple comforts of a country inn. With optional activities (booked and paid locally) like the club’s 1,300 acre wildlife sanctuary which is teeming with Thompson and Grant’s gazelles, zebras, giraffes, and the more reclusive leopards. It is a haven of unbridled charm set in a garden bursting in a profusion of colour, with peacocks roaming its lush green lawns. Walking through this unspoiled terrain is paradise. Play a round of golf watched by a family of warthog, go horseback riding, work out in the gym, have a massage, play tennis or just relax by the pool set within the beautiful gardens all at an extra cost. Overnight at Aberdare Country club.

Day 05 – Sweetwaters

5After breakfast drive via the equator where we will have a photo stop (optional extra cost). Thereafter, we proceed to the Sweetwater’s Tented Camp, home of the Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Sanctuary. In the afternoon proceed for a game drive in this exclusive conservancy. We can be able to spot lions, elephants, buffalos and even leopards if we are lucky! Kenya has a warm and humid tropical climate on its Indian Ocean coastline which becomes cooler as you move inland through the wildlife-rich savannah grasslands towards the capital. The capital city, Nairobi, has a predominantly cool climate which becomes colder as you move closer to Mount Kenya, which has snow permanently on its peaks. Further inland, in the Nyanza region, there is a hot and dry climate which becomes humid around Lake Victoria, the largest tropical fresh-water lake in the world. This gives way to temperate and forested hilly areas in the neighbouring Western region. The North-Eastern regions along the border with Somalia and Ethiopia are arid and semi-arid areas with near-desert landscapes. Kenya is traditionally famous for its safaris, diverse climate and geography, and expansive wildlife reserves and national parks such as the East and West Tsavo National Park, the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Aberdares National Park. Kenya has several world heritage sites such as Lamu and numerous world-famous beaches including in Diani, Bamburi and Kilifi where international yachting competitions are held every year.
